01 - Flavour notes

What the light
left in the fruit.

Notes that taste of where they grew, sun on the leaf, cool river air, and the patient sugars of a desert night.

  • Raspberry
  • Rose Petal
  • Strawberry
  • Cherry
02 - Tasting Portrait

Stand among
the vines.

  • NoseFloral and lifted — rose petal and rosewater, fresh strawberry and raspberry, a charming note of Turkish delight that gives the wine its name in your glass.
  • PalateSweet red berries and tart cherry carried on a soft, light body, with Gewürztraminer's aromatic florals lifting everything upward. Indulgent, but never cloying.
  • FinishSweet and fresh together, the florals lingering after the fruit — clean enough to keep it lively right to the last sip.

The living land

The Kalahari on the Bottle

Across our cellar, each bottle follows a quiet code: our white wines wear the resilient plants of our soil, while our reds carry the native wildlife that roams it. Our rosé is a traditional blend of white and red grape varieties—which is why its label carries both.

Here, the suikerbekkie (sunbird) meets the suikerbos (sugarbush protea), drawn together in a dance of natural sweetness and brilliant desert light. Illustrated and coloured by our fourth-generation winemaker, this vibrant watercolour mirrors the vintage within: naturally sweet, delicately floral, and bursting with fresh, sun-drenched character.

04 - The ritual of opening

Slow it down,
a little.

Serve

A sweet, floral rosé made for the cool end of the day.

  • Very well chilled, 6–8 °C — the colder it is, the fresher the sweetness reads.
  • Lovely over ice — a few cubes turn it into an easy summer pour.
  • Poured often, kept cold — stand it in the fridge between glasses.
Pair with

Happiest with light and sweet things:

  • Fresh berries, fruit salads, and pavlova or meringue.
  • An afternoon cheese board with soft, creamy cheeses.
  • Spicy nibbles — the sweetness is a kind foil for chilli.

Quiet questions

Good things to know.

How should I serve Suikerbekkie Natural Sweet Rosé?

Serve very well chilled at 6–8 °C — the colder it is, the fresher the sweetness reads. It's lovely over a few cubes of ice, and worth keeping in the fridge between pours.

What food pairs well with it?

It's happiest with light and sweet things: fresh berries, fruit salad, pavlova or meringue, a soft creamy cheese board, or spicy nibbles, where its sweetness cools the heat.

What's the alcohol content and bottle size?

Suikerbekkie is 12% ABV in a 750 ml bottle.

Is this wine vegetarian or organic?

Yes — Suikerbekkie is both vegetarian-friendly and produced organically.

Do you ship this wine, and can I return it?

We ship nationwide across South Africa by courier, with an adult (18+) required to receive alcohol on delivery; dispatch takes 2–3 business days. As with all our wines, an opened bottle can't be returned unless it arrives faulty.

Is Suikerbekkie a good gift?

A Sangiovese and Gewürztraminer blend named for the sunbird that works the flowering rows at dawn, it's floral, sweet, and easy to love — a natural gift for someone who isn't sure they like wine yet.
