Catch & Release Fishing at Bezalel Estate

One of the special pleasures of staying at Bezalel Estate is fishing right on your doorstep in our peaceful irrigation dam, just metres from the farmhouses and garden rooms.

The dam is stocked with the same sought-after species found throughout the Orange River system — largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, yellowfish (largemouth and smallmouth), carp, catfish (barbel) and tilapia. It offers excellent catch-and-release fishing in a calm, private setting framed by vineyards and wide Kalahari skies.

We maintain a strict catch-and-release policy to preserve healthy fish stocks and ensure great angling for future guests.

Whether you’re chasing a trophy bass, teaching kids to cast, or simply enjoying a quiet hour by the water, the dam provides relaxed, family-friendly fishing. Early mornings and late afternoons are often the most productive, when the light is golden and the fish are active.

On-site fishing gear rentals are available — rods, reels, basic tackle and lures — so you can travel light and still enjoy the experience.

We want your arrival and departure to be as smooth and relaxed as the rest of your stay.

Check‑in is available from 13:00 (1 PM) until 20:00 (8 PM).
If you expect to arrive after 20:00, just let us know — we’re happy to make the necessary arrangements.

Check‑out is by 11:00 (11 AM).
If you’re leaving early, before 08:00 (8 AM), you’re welcome to simply leave your keys on the desk in your room or in the door on your way out.

If you ever need assistance with arrival or departure times, our team is always here to help.

We know that plans can change, and we aim to make the process as simple and fair as possible.

You’ll receive a 100% refund if you cancel within 48 hours of making your payment.
After the 48‑hour free cancellation window, a 12% processing fee applies.
If you cancel 14 days or more before arrival, we’ll refund 75% of your payment.
If you cancel 7–13 days before arrival, we’ll refund 50%.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of your arrival date are not eligible for a refund.

If you ever need help with a change or cancellation, our team is always happy to assist.

Additional Terms for International Payments

For guests who make payment using a foreign bank account or international card, please note:

Refund amounts may be adjusted to account for international banking fees, currency conversion charges, and exchange‑rate fluctuations.
These costs are not controlled by our establishment, and in some cases they may reduce the refundable amount, even within the 48‑hour free cancellation period.
We will always refund the full amount we receive on our side, but we cannot cover losses caused by third‑party banking systems or currency movements.

For the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of all guests, the following rules apply to the use of our swimming pool and surrounding area:

No lifeguard is on duty. Children and any individuals who are not confident swimmers must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
Glassware, breakable items, and glass bottles are strictly prohibited in or around the pool area.
Proper swimwear must be worn at all times.
Noise and music are strictly prohibited to maintain a peaceful environment.
The swimming pool is exclusively for registered accommodation guests.
The use of infant life vests or flotation arm bands is encouraged for young or inexperienced swimmers.
Running on the poolside and diving into the pool are strictly prohibited.
No alcohol is permitted in the pool area. Guests under the influence of alcohol will not be allowed to use the pool.
No pets are allowed in or around the pool.
For hygiene reasons, guests are requested to use the bathroom before entering the pool.
Guests swim at their own risk. The estate accepts no responsibility for injuries sustained while using the pool or surrounding facilities.
Guests may not tamper with the pool pump box or remove any pool equipment.
The pool area is monitored by 24‑hour video surveillance.
Anyone who disregards these rules may be asked to leave the pool area and may be held liable for any damages to the pool, equipment, or surrounding property.

To ensure a clean and comfortable environment for all guests, the following rules apply:

Smoking is strictly prohibited inside all accommodation units, including the use of e‑cigarettes and vaping devices. All rooms are designated smoke‑free.
Guests are welcome to smoke only in outdoor areas, such as private patios or designated smoking zones.
Smoking in front of open doors is not permitted, as smoke may enter the unit.
Hookahs (shishas) are not allowed in the Garden Rooms or in the outdoor seating areas of the restaurant.

We welcome pets in designated accommodation only. Not all rooms are suitable for animals, so guests travelling with pets are kindly requested to book one of our pet‑friendly self‑catering units. If no pet‑friendly units are available, please contact us prior to making your reservation and we will gladly assist in identifying a suitable alternative.

To maintain the comfort and cleanliness of our spaces, pets are not permitted on beds or sofas. Guests are asked to provide appropriate bedding for their animals; alternatively, suitable pet bedding can be supplied on request. Additional cleaning charges may apply if this policy is not observed.

Accredited service animals are welcome in all accommodation types across the estate.

To ensure a peaceful environment for all guests, the following rules apply across the estate:

Parties, gatherings, and loud music are not permitted in any accommodation unit or shared area.
Guests wishing to host an event are welcome to contact our Events Coordinator to discuss suitable venue options and make the necessary arrangements.
Management must be informed in advance of any additional visitors or day‑guests to ensure compliance with safety protocols, capacity limits, and local regulations.
Visitors are permitted only with prior approval, and must adhere to all estate rules during their stay.
Registered guests are responsible for the conduct of their visitors and for ensuring that noise levels remain respectful at all times.
